Two Layered Chocolate Cake

Takes about 2 hours to make but quite simple.

INGREDIENTS:

For layers- (MAKES ONE LAYER, REPEAT FOR SECOND LAYER)

2 eggs
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1 cup Castor sugar
6 tbsp drinking chocolate
2tbsp baking powder
2/3 cup butter(softened)
a few drops of vanilla essence

For chocolate topping- (Adapted from Donna Hay’s easy chocolate cake)
2cups  chocolate
1cup cream

For chocolate caramel sauce-
1cup sugar
1/4 cups: cocoa, drinking chocolate, butter, milk
a few drops of vanilla essence

METHOD: 

LAYERS-

  • Mix all the ingredients for the layers and bake for 25 minutes at 200 degrees. Make one layer at a time. Let it cool for sometime and do not cover while cooling or it will become sticky.

CHOCOLATE CARAMEL SAUCE-

  • Boil the ingredients for the sauce and mix well once boiled for 2-3 minutes.

CHOCOLATE TOPPING-

  • Double boil chocolate and cream till it thickens and you get a smooth consistency.

ASSEMBLING THE CAKE- (Bottom to top)

First layer- place cake and add chocolate caramel sauce.

Second layer- place second layer of cake and top it with the chocolate topping.
